What are the rate limits for API calls on 2.0 and Lite?
The base rate is 5,000 API calls per hour. We can bump this limit if your user growth requires more frequent calls.
On 2.0 the limit is 30 IMAP calls per user in past 60 seconds. The cap on Lite is 240 calls every 60 seconds per user.
Why do we have rate limits?
We impose these limits for system stability, to prevent throttling, and to encourage developers to use cached headers instead of making unneeded calls.
How will you know if you've exceeded a rate limit?
We follow the Internet Engineering Task Force standards (RFC 6585) and will respond with
429 ("Too Many Requests”) if you exceed our rate limits. We set the
Retry-After header and describe what the exact limit is in the body of the message. This response allows you to programmatically react to distinct rate limiting issues.
